This is a “review” (quotes are because I don’t do this professionally) for ‘Lock ‘n’ Load’. An iOS dual-stick shooter developed by Gamelab and released by Chillingo.

The Story:

Like the greatest action flicks of yore, the setup here is simple: a bad guy (a demented and twisted girl in this case) is out to conquer the world, and you’ve gotta stop’em. How this game raises the stakes, though, is through its eye-melting graphics, electrifying weapons, and a scrupulous level of polish. It doesn’t get better than this, folks.

I’ve been playing this since it came out. I bought it day one, and, the story is just fantastic! It’s fun, interesting, keeps you wanting more, and, just sucks you right into the game. This story was well written and executed extremely well. I have nothing but good things to say about the story for ‘Lock ‘n’ Load’.

The Gameplay:

The controls of ‘Lock ‘n’ Load’ are simple enough. If you’ve played games like Mini-Gore then you won’t have any trouble figuring it out. If you haven’t, don’t worry it’s simple. You have a button on the left that controls your movements, and, a button on your right that controls your weapon. It’s that simple!

While I was playing I didn’t have hardly any problems and everything was very smooth. The only time I had any issues was when there were a large number of enemies on screen. When that happened the animations got choppy. This didn’t make it unplayable, just a small complaint. I just kept playing and it stopped as soon as the fight was over. I haven’t experienced any other problems with the gameplay (I’ll update when I finish everything 100%).

Once thing I absolutely love about ‘Lock ‘n’ Load’ is the amount of time you can spend playing it!! There are so many levels for the main story, then there are the challenges, and, then there is a separate campaign that you can buy via IAP! There’s just so much to do that you’ll spend hours and hours playing this!

The Graphics:

‘Lock ‘n’ Load’ has the best visuals for a game of this type that I have seen for the iOS! There are beautifully done backrounds, enemy models, fight animations, and even the load screens/menus! Everything was very well done for this one. I haven’t noticed any problems with the visuals in ‘Lock ‘n’ Load’.

Issues I’ve Found:

There are only two issues that I have with ‘Lock ‘n’ Load’. As I said above, the more intense a fight is, the game will get choppy (at least on my iPad 1). The only other issue I have is with the menu system. When making IAPs (in app-purchases) and equipping new outfits, the menu has some lag. Other than those two issues this game is perfect to me!

This game is fun, extremely entertaining, and well put together (minus a couple of issues). If you’re a fan of dual-stick shooters then you have to buy this game! You won’t regret it and will thank me later!

In this gory chiller based on real events, a teen’s Halloween bash is spoiled — but becomes eerily authentic — when lunatic Chris Vale escapes from an asylum and returns to his childhood home, which happens to be party central.

I have to say, when I started this film I didn’t have high expectations for it, other than the fact that the description from Netflix (which is quoted above) sound cool. However, I didn’t realize what a surprise I was in for with this one! It’s fantastic!! This is a damn fine slasher flick! Below is a pros and cons list of Halloween Night.

  • Gore, and more gore
  • Fantastic kill scenes
  • Story of the killer was well done
  • Lots of boobies! (Yes, I’m still immature)

  • The actors tried way too hard to be college kids. They could have done better. (Not to say that I could)

Overall, I would highly recommend this to a horror/slasher flick fan. I’ll probably be watching this again fairly soon, and that doesn’t happen often. So, let me know what you think when you watch!

I’m also willing to take suggestions on what to watch next! So, throw them at me if you’d like!

I’ll start off by saying that I’m not really sure how to sum this movie up. There are so many mixed emotions I have about this movie that I’m having trouble describing it and how I feel about it. So, to sum up this one I’ll let the page tell the story.

A group of young horror fans go searching for a film that mysteriously vanished years ago but instead find that the demented killer from the movie is real, and he’s thrilled to meet fans who will die gruesomely for his art.

Now, for my thoughts on this movie.(Contains Minor Spoilers!)

  • Lots of good gore and special effects weren’t bad
  • Plenty of bad ass kill scenes
  • Creative ways to end people.
  • The actual story wasn’t too bad
  • Boobies! (Yes, I’m immature, I know)

  • The acting wasn’t great.
  • The “twist” in the plot could be seen (even by me) well before they happened
  • Unnecessary rape scene that added absolutely nothing to the story or scare factor
  • The fact that the killer had these almost supernatural strength with no explanation.
  • This is just a personal complaint but, I would’ve really liked to have seen more back story on the killer.

Okay, so overall The Hills Run Red was an okay movie with lots of potential to be a great slasher flick. Like I said before, the acting could have been better but it wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t finish this. There were plenty of good things that I really thought kicked ass about this but i have to say the main thing that makes me lean more towards disliking The Hills Run Red more than being a fan is the rape part. It added nothing to the story, they didn’t show enough of it to make it scary, and it was just completely random. It came out of nowhere. Now I’m all for a shock factor and all, but, at least make it valid for the story being told. It seems like the scene was put in just because they could.

Well, there’s my opinion about The Hills Run Red. Would I recommend watching it? Sure, it has it’s good points. So, you decide and let me know what you think.

Trick ‘r Treat

I don’t even know how to begin to talk about this movie. It’s quite possibly the perfect Halloween movie experience! I can’t get enough of it. It’s an amazing movie. The way the story unfolds as you watch and continues to grow, yet, you can see different parts of other sub-stories within the plot in the backgrounds of various scenes that connect everything together. It’s just fantastic.

Some points as to why you should watch this:

  1. Amazing stories that are perfect for Halloween
  2. Superb acting from all involved
  3. Camera work is brilliant
  4. And last but not least, there’s some boobs in it.

I highly recommend that you watch this if you haven’t already. Let me know what you think when you do!

Hello whoever may read this blog!

I’d like to start out by saying this will probably be one of the most random, unorganized blogs you will ever read. I’m here to cure my boredom, so get ready.

I’ll be posting things like:

  • What movies I’m watching
  • Comic books I’m reading
  • Music I’m listening too
  • Things I do during the day
  • And anything else I might feel the need to share

I’m going to try to keep it to one post a day but I can’t guarantee anything. Like I said, I’m random.

I’d like to use this first post to introduce my constant companion. My little buddy that keeps me company when my wife is at work, my little man is sleeping or at school, or any other time I might be at the house by myself.

Here she is, our dog Athena! (aka Miss Pickles)

She is a tiny mix-breed that consist of Chihuahua, Pug, and Weenie Dog.

Anyway, this concludes my first post. I’ll share something soon about some things I’ve watched and done recently.

Too Fat to Burn in Hell

Posted: April 16, 2012 in Uncategorized

I’ve watched both of these over the past couple of days. Here are my thoughts on both.

Kevin Smith: Burn in Hell

I went into this one not knowing anything about it. I didn’t even know it existed until I randomly found it on the web. I’m a big fan of Kevin Smith and nearly all of his movies, comics, books, etc. I have to say I enjoyed this a lot! I think the Q&A sessions he does is an awesome way to interact with fans that you don’t see many celebrities willing to do. He talks about everything from comics that he wrote to the Phelps family.

 – My favorite part of this was his story about the WBC and the Phelps family protesting his screenings and Q&A sessions for his movie ‘Red State’ (which is great by the way).

If you haven’t seen this you need to find a copy and go watch it.

Kevin Smith: Too Fat for 40

I had heard about this through several friends and wanted to watch immediately after they told me about it. This is every bit as funny and interesting as the previously mentioned special. I really liked hearing how he made some of his movies, and the intimate details of his life. It’s nice to see the passion in Kevin’s face when he talks about his work. You can really tell he truly loves what he is doing and what he has done in his life. Very good special to watch and I highly recommend you give it a shot.

I hope one day I can be able to look back and be truly proud and passionate about the things that I’ve done and will do in my life.
